SciFi.com has an interview with Kim Stanley Robinson on his latest novel, Forty Signs of Rain.

[Near-future SF is] a growing test of our ability to come to grips with the present. When everything is morphing before our eyes, can we still write about the shape of things to come? It’s an open question.
