Chances of Getting Made
tanaise compiled some numbers on who gets published. The stats are harsh for women, about 2:1. But the stats for new authors are crushing: only 1 in 15 authors is a new author.
Guidelines: breaking in is the easiest at StrangeHorizons, hardest at F&SF. But if you get made at F&SF, you’re in for life. They publish more stories from their stable of authors than the other three biggies.

this is wonderful info! i wouldn\’t have even thought to look for something like this, but now that i\’ve read it, I think my next round of submissions is going to go to some different editors! Thanks much!
